Hola!

We have always wanted to go to Mexico and truly experience Mexico - not the "tourist" view that you get by having your drinks served to you and meals cooked for you. This year I've been price watching and nothing comes close to the deal we got last year so I started looking at renting a Condo. I looked at TONS of them via the internet and email. I found two I really, really liked but price won out. There wasn't much of a difference - maybe $100 for 10 days but I do afterall live in Steinbach and we like cheap! lol Plus we'll have to buy all our food and drinks, so that'll be different. :-)

One had a super view, awesome unit and was $903USD for 10 days. Here is the link to the first one..it won't let me save the pictures and upload them.

Here is the one I ultimately picked - it's got a Mountain View (which is OK, but I wanted Ocean view - oh well) and it's a nice unit also. It worked out to $833 for 10 days.

I had many to chose from, some were in the Hotel Zone - which we didn't want. You don't "live" with the Mexican people if you stay there. One was 6 blocks from the Ocean...which in itself would be OK, but Puerto Vallarta is pretty much built into the Sierre Madre Mountains and so the streets are pretty steep. I'm sure you could open a brake shop and be busy instantly - they must wear out the parking brakes monthly.

Another one was 4 blocks from the Ocean, but no A/C. Another was a great deal from friends of ours, but no pool.

Last December we drove to Minneapolis and flew from there, this year it's just as much money to fly from Winnipeg so that's what we're going to do. The flight is through Westjet which is a good airline. $644 per person round trip. Not bad. :-)

So we leave Dec 4 (we have to be at the airport by 3) and arrive back in Winnipeg on Dec 15. We have an 8 hour stopover in Edmonton so we'll likely find a cheap hotel there somewhere for a few hours or stay in the Airport (which is kinda hard on the body).

On a different subject - if anyone knows someone that would watch the kids for under $150, please let me know. We will supply a vehicle and gas. I'm shipping the dogs to my parents so it's just the kids that would be here. I'd prefer for whoever it is to be at least 19 and responsible. :-)

Adios. :-)

Hey Ruth - this will be our 5th trip in 4 years. :-) We are hoping to move there permanently in under 15 years.

By then the kids will be adults so if they want to come they can...but most likely it will be just us.
