Another trip bites the dust...

Well we have been to Mexico and returned in one piece.

The trip was pretty uneventful... except my rash that appeared about day 3 or 4. But to start at the beginning... :o) We left Winnipeg a little late but nothing like the other flight that was supposed to leave at 5:10 - when we left they were saying they still had an hour and fourty-five delay. Not good for them. We landed in PV on time and got through the airport and onto the bus just fine. We got to the hotel at 11pm and friends of ours from BC (Glenn & Dawna) had drinks waiting for us. We dropped our stuff in the room and went to the bar. Had a few drinks with them in their room and headed to bed about 12:30. Got up on Sunday and spent the day by the pool relaxing. We met up with a lady and her husband from Robin's work and got to know them a bit. Sunday night we were meeting up with a group of people at CyC's. Tony & Pattie came along (she works with Robin) so there was a total of 8 of us. Monday we headed to Bucerias - a small town about 30 minutes from PV. We spent 4 hours there and headed back to the resort for some much needed pool time. Nothing exciting that night.

Tuesday: i need to refer to my notes about this day... will post once I do. :o)

Wednesday we sat by the pool and suntanned for a bit. I used some of Patti & Tony's suntan oil... BIG mistake! After an hour or so with it on I started getting itchy... just thought it didn't agree with me and by 6 or so it was gone. I didn't think anymore of it until the next day. Thursday was the day we decided to go to Yelapa. We left the hotel about 9:30 after I checked email and bought new sunglasses. My old ones had broken that morning. We headed to the pier to catch the boat. Stopped in at CyC's for some drinks (keep in mind this is 9:45AM)... I had a sprite and everyone else had beer except Patti - she had a margarita. :o)

The boat ride to Yelapa is about 40 minutes. They squish as many people onto the boat as they can (which is about 30 of us). How we didn't sink the boat I'll never know. The ride there is beautiful... I'll post some pictures later. By the time we got there, it seemed like my rash was back. :o( I stayed in the shade most of the day but it didn't seem to matter. We finally determined that it seemed to be the heat that brought my rash back and not the sun. It didn't make for a very pleasant day and I was kinda grouchy (Robin would say a lot grouchy)... We headed back to PV about 3 and then sat by CyC's for a bit trying to wave to the kids on the webcam... we found out later that the webcam was frozen. Shoot! So the kids never did get to see us on the webcam this trip. :o( But we emailed them quite a bit.

Friday we didn't do much, I think we sat in the room from noon until 3 or so because the rash had come back. Robin finally convinced me to let him go to the pharmacy for something. He came back with calamine, allergy pills and some other cream. All for $8 USD... too funny. I took an allergy pill and I used some of the cream and it seemed to help a little. Around 6:30 we ordered Pizza Hut for supper. We went downstairs to get it and met up with Dawna - they were all heading out on the town... I was still grumpy and so we decided we would stay in. We leter found out they had gone to Andale's - a nice little restaurant/bar in Old town where they let you ride a donkey through the bar. If I had known they were going there, I would definately have gone. Oh well, next time. They ended up leaving there are 2am... boy did they pay for that the next day... we packed our stuff on Friday night - just in case we needed to get another bag... we did need another one... I always go overboard buying things there.

Saturday morning we met up with everyone for our last breakfast. Then we packed up the last of or stuff and called the bellboy. We had to be out of the room by 11 - we went downstairs at 11:30 and had no problems. We talked to the signature rep to see if we could get a room for the day because of my rash. She said they were too full and the hotel would charge us $75 USD... it wasn't worth it for me. We sat in the shade and made do. I went for a quick swim to wash off the calamine lotion I had smothered on. Then I had supper in the buffet for the last time because Robin had gotten Subway. Everyone else had made reservations for one of the a la carte restaurants... we have never found them to be very good, so this time we didn't eat at any of them. We met up for drinks with everyone in the lobby at 7. Our bus was supposed to be at the hotel at 8:10. We got loaded onto the bus - then it was onto the Airport. We were fairly close to the front of the line so we got through OK. I know we were overweight, but the guy weighed each piece by itself and didn't bother adding them up. We wandered upstairs and went through security. No problems there. We sat and had a couple of drinks and then I headed off to find a power plug so that I could charge my MP3 player. I got some pretty funny looks. :o) We took off a little later than scheduled, but that's OK... one more minute in paradise is OK with me. We had an uneventful flight back to Winnipeg... I slept most of the time because I felt bad turning on the overhead light with the guy beside me trying to sleep. We came in on Daylight Saving time so we literally lost an hour in the air. We landed about 4:30 local time and got through Customs OK - except that we were called in for a search again this year. :o( They wanted to know what was in one of the suitcases and then we were done. Caught a cab to the airport (cost us $9 CDN!!! - wow) and we went right to sleep. We set a wake up call for 11am and were out cold. GOt the wake up call, grabbed a shower and headed for home. Rachel left almost as soon as we got home - her flight back left at 4:30. We caught up with the kids, handed out souvenirs, unpacked and life returned to normal. It's now been 20 days since we left for PV and 13 since we got back... I miss PV so very much... we have promised the kids next time we go they can come along... we'll see how long it takes to save up enough money...

take care.

Yes, it was neat... although we would have likes some alone time... when we decided to stay in Friday night - they went to a local restaurant that I really would have enjoyed going to... oh well, there's always next time. I think the kids would love it - Morgan will be 10 next year so I think she will be old enough to remember it.

Other than that, I'm OK. We are looking for a part time reception for my work to take some of the load off me :o) We'll see how that goes. Robin is working at Loewen Windows now - he likes it.

the new job is OK - keeps me busy... Robin left Corpell's Jan 19th unvoluntarily... he was fired because his boss found out he had applied at Loewen's. Not very cool with me. He loves being 30 seconds from work to home. lol I still drive 45 minutes each way. :o)
