So close...

Yet it feels like so far away... what am I talking about you ask?? MEXICO of course!! It's almost time for our yearly commute to Puerto Vallarta, Jalisco, Mexico. This year we will be there from March 3-10. Here is a picture of the front of the resort we stay at called Canto del Sol Plaza Vallarta.

Here is where we relax sans children for 7 blissful days. No worries bother us here except what time shall we go swimming and for Robin - how many minutes until I can have a Cerveza (beer)? We have set the time at 10am before he can have a beer... silly man.

We enjoy ourselves while we are there. We barter with the beach vendors, we try to do one excursion per year (this year, it will be more like 3)... but considering two excursions involve taking the bus - it's a cheap day. The bus far down there is 5 pesos now - that equals 50 cents or so CDN!! How can you beat that? We are planning on going to Yelapa - I hear that they have an amazing waterfall. We spend the day there and they give us breakfast and lunch - all for $68 USD. Not bad for a full day tour. Then we are planning on going to Bucerias for the day - I don't know much about there -YET! I'll reasearch it this weekend. I would also like to go the Splash Waterpark... it's basically West Edmonton Mall - but outside next to the ocean. I can't wait.

I am ready to go NOW!!! With the awful cold we've been enduring for what seems like forever - it's time for us to go. No more -50 C with the windchill... no more cold car, no more scraping the ice off the windows... awwwww... c'mon sunshine!!! I got my nails done the other day - I wish I could post a picture of them, but they're too small to see. Anyways, I got a red & white mapleleaf on each finger. It looks so cool! I got my contacts yesterday - they are wonderful. Now I just have to get used to them... so far so good. I wore them all afternoon yesterday and I'm wearing them today - I barely know they're there. I also picked up sandals the other day - I wore them last night for a bit to try and break them in. The last thing you want to take to Mexico is shoes you have never worn - you spend a lot of time walking there. Why let blisters ruin your vacation? Easier to break shoes in a bit before you leave. Other than packing, I think we're ready to go... Oh, except that we don't have our tickets yet. :o( I should get a call any day telling me they are in.... THEN we are ready to go!!! Yippee!!!

Rachel & Ken (Cody's grandparents from Alberta) are coming for the week to watch the kids. She offered and I would have been crazy to say no. They are flying the the day before we leave and they fly out the evening we get back. Can't beat that - especially since it means we won't have to spend much time with them. Rachel & I don't get along very often. She is also talking about taking the kids for 3 weeks in the summer time. So we'll see how that goes. The girls would love it - they may even get to fly home.

Well I think that's it for now - I've tried writing this post for 5 days now... take care.
