Kidless

well this week we are kidless. All 3 of the kids are gone. Surprisingly I have still been busy without them there. Income tax returns and quad rides are keeping me busy. Tonight I am going to go home and do some dishes and hopefully get some tax returns picked up. Saturday it looks like I am spending my whole day in the city. Yipee.

Not recommended...

I do not recommend going on a hockey tournament and staying up until 3 or 4 AM and then getting up the next day at 3AM. This makes for a very tired person. I could barely keep my eyes open yesterday and it's not looking much better today. Next time I decide to do something so silly - someone please smack me. :o)

zzzzz zzzzzzzzzzz zzzzzzzzzz...sooooo tired...

Not this time

Well this one we did not win. We were in a hockey tournament in Baudette, Minnesota this weekend. We played on game Friday night (we lost 8-2), then we played a game Saturday morning (we won 13-1) and then another game Saturday night at 9 (we won 8-1). This put us in a best case scenario of winning Bronze. Well the kids tried - but no such luck. We lost 6-3. The kids were tired and it certainly didn't seem like their hearts were in it. But overall the weekend was a blast. This was the final hockey shindig of the year. The parents perhaps had a little too much to drink and not nearly enough sleep but we also had a great time.

Whew! I am glad it's over for at least another 6 months.

Then I was up at 3am this morning to get ready for work and take Cody to the airport. He is in Alberta with his grandparents this week. His flight left at 6:20 and he needed to be there 60-90 minutes before. Woohoo. As if I wasn't sleep deprived already. So we hunted down a McDonalds that was serving breakfast at 4:30am and grabbed a couple of hot chocolates from Tim Hortons and we got to the airport just in time. Then we sat around for 20 minutes or so until they started boarding. I have never left him at the airport, I have always just picked him up when he's come home. I had a tear in my eye as I left. He turned 13 yesterday - I guess he really is growing up. I can remember bringing him home from the hospital. :o(

OK - no more tears. I am at work and people will think I am crazy.

We won! We won!

In case you can't figure it out - we won our League Championship against the Springfield Ice Hawks last night. The final score was 5-2. The president of the Eastman Hockey League presented us with the Banner and Trophy. The kids were ecstatic! For some (including my son)this meant their first winning season - or anything close to a winning season - in 4 years. Here is a picture of the kids and coaches:

As parents we were so happy for them. We knew they could do it. They worked their little butts off for it and they definitely deserved it. Nevermind that they beat the #1 Ranked team in our league to get the banner. Considering this may be Cody's last year playing - what a fitting end.

As for the other team - Robin was scorekeeper last night so he heard everything the coaches said to the kids. He says some kids were in tears from the pressure. When hockey (or any organized sport) stops being fun - it's time to pull your child. If Cody was going out and deliberately hurting kids or just plain wasn't having fun anymore - I would pull him from the sport immediately. Thankfully he loves all sports - he plays hockey, basketball, badminton, soccer and cross country. Mostly through school thank goodness or I would be running 24/7. Mind you, with the report card I got home yesterday - some of those may be ending pretty darn quick.

As for me, I am feeling much better since my last post. I have a little bit of a cough, but mostly at night. We are getting ready to head down to the states to play in a hockey tournament which will be our last for this year I think. Whew! Didn't think I'd make the end of the season. :o) On Friday the girls are gone to their dads for 10 days and Monday after the tournament Cody is heading to Alberta for 6 or 7 days to spend time with his aunts and uncle and grandparents (who are just back today from Australia for 1 month). He has missed them all since they live so far away. So I will be childless for 6 or 7 days - woohoo! What ever will I do with my free time? I dunno. I'm sure I will find something. I have two gift certificates to use up - both for manicures and pedicures. Hmmm. Wonder if anyone at work would miss me for an afternoon? :o) Robin and I will probably spend most of it 4 wheeling in the evenings. With the nice weather it's hard to stay inside but there is still a lot of snow so we can't do much in the yard.

Friends of ours just got back from Puerto Vallarta, Mexico. They stay at the same resort as we do. They stayed for 2 weeks - lucky them. They took some amazing pictures - I will check to see if I can post some here.

I think that's all I have to report for now. Take care.

Just shoot me

I hate being sick. I take care of the kids when they're sick, I take care of Robin when he gets sick, but who takes care of me? Nobody! Mom's aren't allowed to get sick - ever! I have a cold. Nothing earthshattering, but I feel like someone is sitting on my chest. Nevermind the sniffles. So I am not sleeping well because I am up coughing a lot, then my nose gets plugged so I wake up because it's a nice feeling to be able to breathe.

My son calls me yesterday at work - I answer the phone like always "Good morning, Nutri-Health Group, Tracy speaking" and he asks for Tracy. I said "Speaking". He says " Oh, it didn't sound like you." I said " I'm sick". You know what he says? "Oh, are you? You weren't this morning." I said "um, yes I was". That shows you that kids don't notice when mom's are sick - only dad's because when Dad's are sick - they make it known very loudly! When Mom's are sick, they are still expected to make supper, do dishes, do laundry and still get all the kids where they need to be - on time! Sometimes I wish I were the Dad. :o)

OK - I'm done my rant. Now on to some other news.

As of yesterday's post - Landon should be at home today. Woohoo. Exactly 1 month old. Good to hear. I will give them a little time to get used to having him at home before I go visit. Heaven knows life for the past month will be quite different than having him at home.

We played our second game against Springfield Ice Hawks last night. We beat them 3-0! The kids are so happy. It's good to see them feeling confident in themselves after the last couple of years. The Ice Hawks have only lost 2 games this year in the regular season, so I am sure this is shocking them. We played them our first game of the year and we lost 3-2. We were 4th in the standings and they were 1st. Like Robin said last night, we technically shouldn't have even made it this far. But the kids played their butts off last night and hopefully Thursday will be our last league game. Then we head down to Minnesota for some fun hockey. Here is a picture of the end of last nights' game where they shake hands:

Take care.

Tax time...

Well for you that don't know - I have a small Income Tax Prep business. I have had a handful of customers phone me to come pick up their papers. So I guess this is a start. Once I am done in April - we don't really have anything going on until Hockey starts again in September. Hopefully we will be able to get the boat out this year as well as the quads.

Nothing much new other than hockey is just about over. we are playing our last series against Springfield and then we have a hockey tournament in Baudette, MN at the end of March. We played Springfield on Thursday and just barely won 2-1. Our goalie was sick so we had to borrow a player from the next youngest team (Atom A). He did pretty good considering Springfield is the best in the league and he is only 10 years old. We play again either Monday or Tuesday and hopefully we will win because some of the kids on Cody's team haven't had a winning season in two or three years. They deserve it.

That's all for now.

Finally done

Well T4's are finally done and corrected. This has probably been one of the most stressful couple of weeks I have ever had. Hopefully next year will be much better.

I have some income tax customers calling now to get their taxes done - which is a good thing. It means I can pay off a few credit cards and start saving towards our next trip to Mexico. Although so far the savings is not going so well.

Well, I don't know much more. Pretty boring week around here. Next week is a payroll week, so it will be kinda busy.
